Aimslee

This post is going to be all about my girl, Aimslee. After me and Dar got married, I started getting baby hungry fast! After all, there were a lot of new babies in our ward! Well, Dar wasn't ready for this yet so he convinced me that we still needed to wait so we could enjoy each other and travel. I still didn't like that idea and then he mentioned how much money we could save if we waited and got out little savings built up. I was okay with that. Well, apparently we weren't supposed to have a savings account yet because soon after that I got pregnant. (Here is where I would insert a picture of me pregnant but as I mentioned before, I'm not photogenic and so taking pics while I was huge was out of the question!) While I was pregnant, we moved in with my brother and his brand new wife and 2 kids. On March 16, 2007, I woke up with a lot of contractions. I was so excited to finally get this baby out of me! We went to the hospital at about 1:00 in the morning. I called my mom just to tell her just in case. I also told her that I would let her know when we got there if she needed to come. We got there and I was having consistent contractions that were real ones. They checked me and I was only 1 cm dilated. I was so frusterated! They had me walk around for an hour and then checked me again, still only a 1. They ended up sending me home, even though I was in active labor. We left and got home at 4:00 a.m. I was so tired the next day! After taking it easy and reassuring my mom I wasn't still in the hospital, she decided she had better come anyway. After all, my brother decided to take on his kitchen and remodel it so my dad wanted to come help. Well, once again, I woke up at 1:00 in the morning with contractions but this time my water broke with them! I was so nervous they were going to tell me I just peed my pants! I woke up my mom to make sure. She went with us to the hospital and sure enough, my water was broken and they wanted me to stay there. As it turns out, everybody wanted to have their baby that day so the maternity ward was packed! It was so packed, they didn't have a bed for me for 8 hours!!!!! They also had a rule that when you are in the triage, there can only be 1 person in there at a time! My mom and husband had to take turns sitting with me! Neither one wanted to go home because they had been telling me for the last 6 hours I would get the next bed! That never happened because everytime they were getting a room ready for me, someone else would come along farther than me and need that room! Needless to say, I was mad.
After getting me into a room, I find out my doctor can't deliver my baby because she is on vacation. They started to induce me right away.
They tried everything they possibly could! I was still only a 1!!! That poor doctor that I had finally got to the point and had to deliver the bad news. After being in labor for 31 hours, Darwin woke up to the words "We need to get her ready for a c-section." He started freaking out because he didn't know what the heck was going on! They got me prepped right away and allowed us to take our video camera and out regular camera in. After a very successful surgery, out came my baby girl. Aimslee Elizabeth Campbell born March 18, 2007 6 pounds, 12 ounces.
All the nurses felt so bad that I had to wait for a room so long that they saved me my own room to be in. I didn't have to share!!!!! The first night was the worst! I was extremely sore and the pain medicane they were giving me wasn't working! They finally switched it and helped me relax. About that time, Aimslee spit up and started choking. After yelling at Dar to wake up, I finally had to suck it up and get her up myself. Pretty scary but Dar paid for it. I never changed a diaper in the hospital! He had to change them all AND he brought me something to throw at him to wake him up! She was the sweetest baby ever! I loved playing dress up with her and making her try on about every outfit we had for her! I never let her wear the same outfit until she wore all of them! I loved being a mom!
She turned out to be the best first born ever! I loved spending every minute with her! I loved it even more that both of my sister in laws were having babies that were the same age as her! She loves being a big sister and is my big helper. She is very independent about everything and let me know every day how big she is getting! I am so thankful she is in my family. I love her so much!!!! Here's to you Aimlsee!
